Okay, so I haven't been on this thing in who knows how long. Life has been groundhog day for the most part. same day over and over again. But what of the changes? Here they are.

I joined a church and its choir. I love singing, and the people around me don't complain too much about my voice ;)
I started reading again for pleasure.
I started the South Beach diet. Been on it a little over a week. The week before that I had started cutting down on my calories too. This ticker tracks my weight loss since before the low-cal diet.

7 looks good, 20 to go doesn't look as good. You always lose most weight in the first week or two of a new diet, so I see that 20lbs taking a few months at least. I have about 10 lbs to go until I am no longer overweight. I've gained about 20 lbs this school year, so I need to at least get back down there. Let's hope I can stay strict with myself.

Volleyball season ends this week. I look forward to gaining some of my time back. I look forward to being able to go to the gym more too. Like I was doing before Volleyball season started.

Been trying to make friends at work, but I don't see it happening in a big way. It's a little discouraging, but I'm trying not to get too beaten down about it.

Type O Negative releases a new album tomorrow!

It's been a while. If you posted anything of extreme interest since my last post (about the beginning of November maybe?) and before thanksgiving, I couldn't get to my friends page to read it somewhat easily. Let me know!

What's been going on in my life? As you might remember, I moved, and my desktop computer died in the same weekend. Total suckage. The computer is a motherboard problem. Nothing to do about that for a while, especially since it's an ollllldddd machine. So I'm using my laptop. Got an analog monitor cable so I can still watch movies on my normal monitor. Learning how to keep fewer windows open due to the resources drain.

The housewarming was good. Seems I forgot to invite a whole bunch of people what the the computer dying and trying to get stuff unpacked, and then shoving stuff into the closet despite the fact that it was not yet unpacked. Got a proper bed over Thanksgiving. Rather comfortable. Got the sheets etc for it on Black Friday too. Nothing like shopping at 5am! Love it! (just that once a year, mind you. Don't ask me to go to Wal-Mart with you at 5am unless it's for something REALLY cool!)

Watched a whole bunch of movies since Blockbuster online now do the whole "trade your online rentals for an in-store rental and we'll mail you your next online rental asap" thing. It's lovely. Last night I started watching Dr. Strangelove, and fell asleep in it... Again. Last time was years ago when Erin and i were watching it when she still lived with her parents in GA. Hope to see the end of this movie tonight.

As for work... Field trip today. Wore me out. And now I have to deal with them for the REST of the WEEK. hooray. I miss June. (the month, not any person called June.) Reading Constant Gardener in my "free" time right now. Actually took a walk by the river yesterday evening with it. Sat against a tree and read for a while. Would have liked to stay out longer, and when I was by the river I was rather in the woods -- did not know how far I would have to walk to get out of the woods. The sun was setting, which was beautiful. Don't want to get lost now, do I?

I interact all day at work. Very little time to just me. That's a big part of being a teacher, I guess. My mouth flaps most of the day. This is starting to result in little desire to see or talk to people at home. I'm starting to get irritable.

So, I'm sorry if you call me and I don't answer. Sometimes my jaw runs out of energy, I guess. I love talking to you all, sometimes I just don't want to talk to anyone.

On today's good side, the new Evanescence album is rather good! (But would you believe that Fry's Electronics didn't have it?!?)

Meehans has been closed. Officially. I checked on the website to get the phone number, and instead was greeted with this message:

The partners of 101 Concepts have closed the Alpharetta location of Meehan’s Public House. This decision was based on their strategy to focus on locations in neighborhood settings. We appreciate all the loyalty and support that our Alpharetta customers have given us! We hope that they still will support us at our other Meehan locations!

I, for one, am appalled at the sudden shutdown and don't see any urge to support 101 concepts. But anyhow, on to more important business. The local pub has closed. Now it is time to find a new local.

Apparently I have been watching a tad too many crime shows (CSI, CSI:NY, CSI:Miami, NCIS)... Yesterday morning I woke up trying to solve a crime. And somehow my alarm clock was involved in the whole thing... Can't remember how. But every time I woke up I expected there to be people around helping me solve this crime. Most confusing. I did not sleep well. So yesterday I downloaded a bunch of Family Guy episodes (haven't seen much of the show for a while). Thought that this would help me fix my problem. So instead when I woke up this morning, I found myself playing some messed up version of Baseball. Not quite as confusing, although I think it is the first time I've dreamt of baseball. Maybe somehow related to watching Eureka last night, knowing that Sherriff Carter is obsessed with baseball? Who knows?!?

Anyhow, work is going as usual. Nothing new to report (that I care to anyway). Have 23 kids in my class now. About equal boys and girls.

On the way home today I decided to take a long detour to the car dealership and get my 6k mile service done. One hour and ten minutes later I arrive. Have oil changed and tires rotated. Stop by Michaels. This past weekend I started a grey and black shawl, and THEN realized I didn't have enough of this black yarn to do the whole thing. Was positive that this particular color of Caron Simply Soft black was purchased at Michaels. Well, I was wrong (as I found out). So tomorrow I'll have to stop by Joanns and see if they have it. If they don't, it's Wal-Mart. If no one has it, I'll say fuckit and change blacks and hope that the grey will mask the color change. (or maybe I'll get REALLY obsessive and try to find it online!)

    Current Location: home, finally.

Andre Agassi just finished his last professional tennis match. He had a good run of it. Poor chap was crying so much he had a hard time getting up to get his stuff. Whole stadium was standing up and cheering for him. Touching.

Georgia State called me today and informed me that the participation of their alumnus was los, about 8 or 9%. They then asked me if I wanted to make a "small" donation of $20 or so... I wanted to shout at them and tell them to stop misappropriating funds and pay the president less and not buy stupid stuff like wide-screen tvs for information boards, then they wouldn't need my lousy $20.

    I told them no.

    Am I too nice?
